Public Space Singalong #1: Into the Void

The first Public Space Singalong was held in the 2nd Street Tunnel in Downtown Los Angeles on August 26, 2012 for Machine Project. In honor of the retro-futuristic location and the life and death of Neil Armstrong, we sang a handful of familiar pop songs covering topics like satellites, countdowns to takeoff, the wish to be abducted by aliens, and the loneliness of outer space. Songs were accompanied by violin, accordion, guitar, snare and triangle, and giant cardboard hands.

Moonage Daydream, David Bowie
Satellite of Love, Lou Reed
Planet Queen, T Rex
Starman, David Bowie
Major Tom, Peter Schilling
Rocket Man, Elton John

Pauline Lay, violin
Rob Amesbury, accordion
Jessica Cowley, guitar
Matt Stromberg, snare
Lauren von Gogh, triangle
Steven Simon, giant hands
